High School, here she comes

I swear it was yesterday and I was getting her ready for middle school.  I’m afraid I might have blinked one too many times… because tomorrow, my big girl starts high school.  Lot’s of friends have asked if she’s nervous… or excited… and I have to say that she is cool as a cucumber.  She will have 3 classes plus basketball.  Last year she had something like 6 or 7 classes.  It was a lot to keep up with.  Maybe she won’t be spread so thin this year…
So, to get her ‘high school’ ready, we went shopping, y’all.  And then of course we had to have a style show.  Here ya go, take a little peek…

I couldn’t be more proud of this girl.  She’s probably one of the most balanced people I know.  She’s smart.  She’s a leader. She is a good friend.  And… especially when she puts her mind to something… she’s unstoppable.  She’s a negotiator like you can’t imagine… which is why I can totally see her being an attorney.
I know she’s going to have a wonderful high school experience.  I’ve been praying a golden bubble around her for 14 years…
Getting her ready for school brings back memories of my time in high school… which was awesome.
I just hope those high school boys remember that this girl is my angel.

Morning Yum

I’m one of those souls that appreciates learning from others.  I mean, Goodness Gracious… sometimes there’s no need to re~invent the wheel… or the bread, as the case may be.  So, when the title of a recipe says ‘it’s the best ever’… I’m likely to believe it.  And try it.  And I did just that…

Making Memories… Ranch Style

Summers hold some of my fondest memories.  Hot days and cool evenings in the mountains of far west Texas.  Thank God we still have a place in our family where our kids can share some of the same experiences.  My mom used to put my sister and I on a bus in San Antonio and…

Where I’ve Been Lately

The following post explains what happens when you watch too much tv… especially home improvement and income property~type shows.  Let me start with the ‘before’ pictures. Let me draw particular attention to the popcorn ceiling, paneled walls, and fireplace. The kitchen boasted ivy wallpaper, popcorn ceiling (again), and yellowed cabinets. And a stove from 1978…

Hippity Hoppity… Easter’s On It’s Way

Easter is really one of my favorite holidays.  For me, Easter is about new beginnings.  Life after Death.  A time when our spirits warm at the possibility of a new… and different… and better life.  Easter comes in the Spring for goodness sake… every where I look it seems like the universe is singing the…

I {Heart} Gardening, So Does Hotshot

We had company for a visit on Sunday and I had a sort~of photo op set up for the occasion.  Mostly because I knew I would need help to make it happen.  I can always super~duper count on my b-i-l, s-i-l, and their kids.  I made them some yummy red velvet cupcakes and gave everybody…

Early Spring and Hotshot

We have had the weirdest weather this year.  It’s unusually warm… trees are blooming, the garden centers are packed, the grass is already growing (which means an extremely long mowing season… sigh.)  I’ve got a serious case of spring fever.  So we spent a little time outside this weekend.  And look what I found… Hotshot was…

31 Days of Things You Should Know {Day 24}

It’s kind~of ridiculous that I started the ’31 Days of Things You Should Know’ back in October.  I’m just going to go ahead and say that I’ve had a few things on my plate.  I’ve been streching and growing and learning and trying to figure things out.  I’ve started grad school… taking my first class…

31 Days of Things You Should Know {Day 23}

Wow.  This post has been in draft status for like 4 months.  Time to get rolling! I think I’m a pretty good listener.  Mostly because I know what it feels like when someone really, really listens to me.  On a heart level.  And I want people who are sharing with me to have that same…
